Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA)
A hair tissue mineral analysis (HTMA) is a non-invasive, screening test that measures the level of 20 minerals and toxic metals in a sample of hair.
A hair tissue mineral analysis is much more than a test for minerals, it provides a blueprint of one's biochemistry. A hair tissue mineral analysis can provide pertinent information about your digestion, blood sugar, thyroid, metabolic rate, energy levels, carbohydrate tolerance, stage of stress, immune system and glandular activity.
This screening test can also be used to reduce the guesswork involved when recommending nutritional supplements and dietary modifications.
Collection: Hair sample
Turnaround time: 2 weeks (estimated)

The Basic Package vs The Premium Package
Both packages include your test results (more info below), but the premium package includes a 30 minute consultation with Dr. Don, virtually or in person, to go over your test results.
What’s included with this test?
A complete and individualized test interpretation that includes information related to one's metabolic rate, energy levels, autonomic balance, a personal dietary supplement program, basic diet recommendations and other information that can be inferred from the test results.
This report includes three transition diets, menu plans and a wealth of information covering food preparation, eating habits, changing one's habits, cooking, shopping, and other valuable information.
Benefits of a HTMA test:
A hair sample shows what’s going on inside a person’s cell over the last 3 months while bloodwork looks at the activity outside of the cell and only gives a snapshot of when the sample was taken.
It provides a non-invasive way to get a 'blueprint' of the mineral content in the rest of the body's tissues.
Blood tests and urine tests obviously provide important information about a person's biochemical status, but they only evaluate the fluids in the body. However, the vast majority of biochemical functions actually take place inside the cells themselves. Through extensive research and correlation of data, it has been established that there are reliable relationships between the levels of minerals in the hair and other tissues of the body.
Since these minerals are crucial to the functioning of enzymes, hormones and other biochemical systems which sustain life, it is possible to read this 'blueprint' and see where metabolic patterns are deviating from normal.
Proactive care: It provides information that may be used to assist your health care professional to determine that/if an imbalance exists before you experience symptoms. This allows you the chance to correct these mineral imbalances through nutritional therapy to perhaps avoid suffering from metabolic symptoms all together.
